Hey everyone,

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and has now been transferred to The Artsy Reader Girl.

This week is Books I Decided To DNF Too Quickly. I could only think of books that I couldn’t get into or ones that I have tried and failed.

13153953

Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett

I couldn’t find the plot interesting and while I was listening to the audiobook I got completely lost as to who is who.

70897

The Secret History by Donna Tartt

I found the book very hard to get into, I’m one of those people that want to give books a chance even when I’m not enjoying them but I could not find anything interesting and gave it up. I am selling it on my Depop if anyone is interested.

15739070

11.22.63 by Stephen King

I have had this book for 7 YEARS. I can still remember getting it. This isn’t the only book by Stephen King that I have put down on this list. I remember picking up the book, reading a couple pages and gave up. LOL.

20873804

A Game Of Thrones by George R. R. Martin

I love the TV Show but I can never get into the books. I started reading it last year but I could only get as far to the Baratheon/Lannister arrival to Winterfell. Much like Colour of Magic, I was listening to the Audiobook but I couldn’t get myself to enjoy it. Another year to go…

11740831

Carrie by Stephen King

Another Stephen King novel, I thought it would be interesting but I wasn’t enjoying it and gave up.

17308035

Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami

I go into a phase where I would get a few of the books by a certain author in order to get myself to their work and hope to enjoy them but after reading The Rat series I wasn’t much interested in picking up the others and ended up selling it.

5973826

The Redeemer by Jo Nesbo

Apart from Cockroaches and the two recent releases of the Harry Hole series, I have had this book for years and I could never get into this book. I could never get as far as the first chapter.

12974171

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

I picked this book up back in 2015 on my trip to Thailand and I found the book to be very hard to get into, of course, I was sitting by the beach on Koh Samet enjoying the sunshine, the relaxation and the company. Check out my Instagram if you are interested in seeing it. I guess I got distracted from where I was than the book.

14800993

Dracula by Bram Stoker

I borrowed the book from my school library and I remember getting very into it but I ended up giving it back to the library. I don’t remember why but I did.

31309

The 13 Problems by Agatha Christie

Or any Agatha Christie book. I have only read three of her books so far and I really enjoyed it but I haven’t found myself wanting to pick up more of her work. I have only read one chapter of The 13 Problems and haven’t returned since.

What are your answers? Let me know xx

I couldn’t really get into the Game of Thrones books either – too long winded! I did like The Secret History though! Great list 😊

Thanks, yours too. I read One Day years ago and was near to the end when I saw the movie. I have a friend who read the books years ago and really enjoyed it, he kept wanting me to read it but of course I DNFed it xx

    Nice answers!! 🙂
I’ve heard that Carrie is a slow burn, I’ll get to it some day!

And i’m the same I just can’t get through the Game of Thrones books anymore. I’ve tried multiple times but I think the TV show is enough for now.

Have you tried any other Pratchett? Even he said the first ones were not good places to start! I recommend Wyrd Sisters, Guards! Guards!, or Going Postal.
