Hope you had a great Christmas and New Years. It gets really busy at work for me around the Christmas period which explains my silent absence. I have been wanting to get myself motivated to do more here but with my full-time job, the only day I am able to post anything is Sunday which sometimes I just want to lounge around and read or watch something on my laptop. Hopefully 2020 will be the year to get myself motivated to do more things.
I have been Bullet Journaling for three years now and it has been a fun experience. I first got into it because I liked the sence of creating your own planner and it has struck by me ever since. I would like to say that I am not one of those bullet journalers that has does those really cool calligraphy or have any artistic abilty, I like to personalise it.
One of the things I have have been loving is scrapbooking/collage style of bullet journaling, you can find a ton of different types of bullet journaling on Youtube or on blogs.
The most popular notebook for Bullet Journaling is the Leuchtturm 1917 which I have used at least three times but early this year I decided to go for a Dingbats notebook which is a bit bigger than the 1917 but also the pages are perforated to tear if you make a mistake. I decided to stop using the notebook because the perferated pages sometimes annoyed me and I wanted to start the new decade with a new notebook.
I chose to use the Archer and Olive notebooks, it doesn’t have a lot of pages I think it is about 160 but the paper quality is soo good that you don’t have any pen bleed throughs from the other side. I chose the purple cover with the moth because the moth reminds me of Sarai from Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor and it is one of my favourite books as well as character.
How I start my Bujo?
So I always start my Bujo with a collage of photos that I probably won’t use, it just sort of shows the personality of me and the things that I like. I then of course fill in my name and include some more stickers.
So I kind of wanted to log at the beginning of when I started this journal and until I finish it. I had seen this from watching a kpop journal video by using some washi tape as a background with a sticker on top. I chose the sticker that says “don’t panic” which is a quote from the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy while in the middle of the sticker is a blue towl.
One of the must things that I have in my Bujo is my TBR, I prefer the list form as it just seems more minimalistic and it’s less work that creating a bookshelf. I do like the look of how my TBR comes to be, from the beginning to the end because it shows how well I have gone through my list. I will have to say some of these books are a mix between classic’s (which I am not rushing to read because I can read them whenever I feel like it), fantasy, historical fiction and some are romance. And the list goes on to the next page, I have about 100 books that I have not read yet which personally for me is not that bad. I mean if I cut out the book purchasing that might (most likely) happen in 2020 and looking at the list of the books remaining on the TBR, it’s not that bad.
Before I would have a list of all the books that I had read in the month but I wanted to change that so I went with a different format. I don’t read much, compaired to other bookworms who can read more than ten books a month, it’s a nice and simple look.
This is how I usually do my title pages in the Bujo. I like to collage, use some stickers and washi tape. I ordered quite a lot of stickers on AliExpress, I have to say the stickers are really cool and fit so well asthetically.
This is how I always set up my monthly spreads. I don’t do anything much, so this is mostly filled in by my work hours and when tv shows come back.
So I have been wanting to keep a reading tracker in my Bullet Journal but sometimes I don’t fill it in, I am hopefull that I am able to keep it up to date as well as seeing how my progress looks. For the second page, I didn’t know what to do with the page so I decided to leave it blank for now.
I hope you enjoyed this post, I might continue on and show you next month’s spread.
I’ll look forward to seeing you in my next post xx
