Hey Everyone,

How are you today?

So I thought I would just do a wrap- up for all of the books that I have read in the month of October. I have read some amazing books and Enjoy!

Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman

I read this with while listening to the audiobook. I give props to Gaiman because he has done a brilliant job in writing this book and while I did enjoy the book I found myself not going for the book as much. The book was good, it was just not for me.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

So I discovered Scribed at the beginning of October, Scribed is a Website/App where you can pay a monthly subscription for books, audiobooks, magazines and sheet music. I saw the book on there and I had to see what the hype was about.

There was a lot of hype about this book and I can totally understand why. This book follows Monique, she is 34, a writer and soon to be divorced, the famous actress Evelyn Hugo has requested for Monique to write an article on herself only it wasn’t an article she was interested. She was interested in Monique to write a book about Evelyn’s career from the 60’s to the 80’s.

I found the book to be so addicting, it felt like an expose of secrets and revelation. As a young actress, Evelyn focused on making a name for herself and she hatched plans to tease the public with her life. But she was also hiding a part of her life that she could never find a word to describe herself. I just couldn’t stop listening to it, it was very emotional at the end but I couldn’t keep imagining what it would be like as a movie because it felt like that while reading it.

The Strange Cases of The Alchemist’s Daughter by Theodora Goss

This was another book that I found on Scribed.

This book is about Mary Jekyll, daughter of Dr Jekyll. After losing her mother, Mary struggles to sustain enough income for her and her staff. She soon discovers of a secret account her mother had made for the name Hyde, now in the book Hyde was the assistant to her father and is known as a killer. She soon starts to suspect that Hyde is alive and that she can claim the reward to help her, only she doesn’t meet Hyde but Hyde’s daughter, Diana. She soon starts to suspect what her father was doing and discovers more women who have been experimented on for the scientific evolution.

This book is amazing, I could not leave it alone. I love how the author collaborated all the Victorian Era characters from Victorian Era Authors, I like how they were all in the same world. It’s funny, thrilling and just brilliant.

Ahh, I am trying to find words for this book and my brain can’t form it.

The characters are great, the story does have this creepy effect because of Catherine, Justine and Beatrice, and also the fact that Mary is working alongside Sherlock Holmes (Which, by the way, there is something between Mary and Sherlock, it’s implied and I am completely obsessed with it) and Dr Watson into finding out about the Secret Society of Alchemist’s.

Maybe In Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid

I was in the mood to read another TJR book, and I already had the book on kindle, so why not.

This book follows Hannah, she is returning to Los Angeles after a break-up with a married man that didn’t turn too great and she is reunited with her best friend. So Hannah, her best friend Gabby and Gabby’s husband Mark, they go to a party and Hannah is reunited with her first love Ethan and towards the end of the party, the life of Hannah’s choice splits. It splits into two different storylines with one going home with Gabby and Mark and the other staying at the party with Ethan.

This was actually a really enjoyable read, I liked how in both storylines she is surrounded with her family and her BF Gabby, her romantic relationships are both different yet, it was a lot more interesting to see different journey’s. I did favour one storyline over the other but the overall book was really good.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling

This was like the fifth time that I have read this book. This book is one of my favourite books by JK. Rowling, next to Half-Blood Prince. I have had the illustrated edition since Christmas and I have been seeing around on Instagram and Youtube of people reading Harry Potter from June to December and it got me in the mood to pick up this huge book. This book is amazing, beautiful and so enjoyable.

Sanctuary by Nora Roberts

At the end of the month, I needed a book that could lift up my spirits and give me something to hold on to. And this book helped me get back into my reading spirit. This time last year, I got very heavily into reading Roberts Standalones because they gave a thrilling element while also getting the main character to fall in love. I did start the book early this year but I was feeling in the moment into reading it.

I really liked the mystery element in this book, it definitely had a spooky vibe which is really good to read around Halloween. And it also had the estranged family ark in the book.

I did read two more books at the end of the month but I decided to write reviews for them because I have a lot to say about them.

I hope you are having a lovely day.

Happy Reading 😉
