The Plot

The Atlas Six follows six magically gifted candidates who are selected to study at the Alexandrian Society, which is basically like Hogwarts for adults. The Society is ultra exclusive and secretive, and only the six “Alexandrians” get chosen each decade to master rare magical abilities.

We follow the six chosen ones – Libby, Nico, Reina, Tristan, Callum and Parisa – as they move into the Society’s headquarters and begin their training. In addition to learning cool magics, they also have to compete against each other for one of the four coveted apprenticeship spots under the Society’s masters.

The stakes are high and the competition is fierce. The candidates form strategic alliances and betrayals happen. Egos clash and tensions rise. On top of all this, someone is attacking the masters, and there may be a traitor among the Alexandrians.

My Thoughts

I absolutely devoured this book! The Atlas Six was dramatic, suspenseful, and filled with juicy intrigue. It had me guessing from start to finish.

What I loved most was how distinct and complex each of the candidates were. They each had unique personalities, backgrounds, strengths, and flaws.

Libby was the relatable protagonist who was thrown into this cutthroat world. Nico was the arrogant golden boy. Reina was the secretive empath. Tristan was the troubled telepath. Callum was the moral compass. And Parisa was the ambitious perfectionist.

Seeing how each of their stories developed, intersected, and evolved was fascinating. The characters really carried this book for me.

I also enjoyed the magic system and seeing the candidates learn these rare abilities. Things like mirror walking, dream walking, and beast taming are not your typical magical powers.

My only critique is that the pacing fluctuated a bit. Some parts moved slower when the characters were in classes, and other parts flew by rapidly to progress the plot.

But overall, I was hooked! The Atlas Six delivered drama, action, romance, and a thrilling mystery that kept me eagerly turning pages. I can’t wait to see what happens in the sequel!

Conclusion

The Atlas Six is a must-read for fans of adult fantasy looking for magic blended with mystery and suspense. Olivie Blake crafted an immersive world with multidimensional characters that leap off the page. I highly recommend this book if you’re searching for an entertaining and binge-worthy new fantasy series!
